The Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) released a notification on June 26, 2020, advising members of a new MSME registration process called "Udyam Registration" that will begin on July 1, 2020.

They will issue an e-certificate with a unique identification number and a QR code after effective registration on the udyam registration portal.

The following are the highlights of the Udyam Registration Process:

  • Udyam will be the name of the company for this reason, and the registration process will be called 'Udyam Registration.'

  • MSME  will be allowed to register at the Udyam Registration Portal.

  • The MSME registration process is exclusively online, without the use of paper, and is based on self-declaration. For registering an MSME, no records or evidence are needed to be uploaded.

  • Registration would necessitate the use of an Aadhaar code.

  • After registration, you will be given a specific registration number.

  • After completion of the process of registration and Udyam Registration Certificate will be issued.

  • This certificate will have a dynamic QR Code from which the web page on MSME Ministries Portal and details about the enterprise can be accessed.

  • Information on spending and turnover of companies connected to PAN and GST can be automatically collected from the appropriate government datasets.

  • The online infrastructure for the MSME Ministry will be completely compatible with the Income Tax and GST IN programs.

  • Also, they have to re-register themselves those who have EM-II or UAM registration or any other registration issued by any authority under the Ministry of MSME.

  • Udyog Aadhaar (UAM), the previous MSME registration process, will only be effective until March 31, 2021. Established MSME's would be asked to re-register at the Udyam Registration Portal.

No company should have more than one Udyam Registration. However, in a single Registration, any range of operations, including manufacture, operation, or both, can be listed or added.
